An important element in undertaking law reform to prohibit all corporal punishment of children is knowing what has been done in states which have already achieved prohibition. This short guide outlines what can be learned from states which have achieved prohibition in all settings, including the home, with a particular emphasis on the drafting of prohibiting legislation.

The guide is intended to support all those engaged in promoting and carrying out law reform to prohibit all corporal punishment. It explains what is required in the drafting of prohibiting legislation using examples from states which have achieved reform. It also draws on the experiences of states to illustrate some of the pitfalls to be avoided.
