Tanzania tells Committee it is considering reforms on corporal punishment
During examination by the Committee on the Rights of the Child of Tanzanias Initial Report under the Convention, in Geneva in June, the Tanzanian delegation said that corporal punishment was part of the country's law and still used in schools and against children under 16 years as a sentence for criminal offences. But the delegation stated that the Government was seriously considering the whole system of corporal punishment.
