Date: September 2009New publication about the law in SwedenSave the Children Sweden and the Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs have published a review of the law in Sweden, the first country to achieve prohibition of all corporal punishment of children, including in the home in 1979. The report, Never Violence Thirty Years on from Sweden’s Abolition of Corporal Punishment, describes the process of enacting the prohibiting legislation and the impact that it has had on the prevalence of, and attitudes towards, corporal punishment and responses to parents who use it.
