Date: May 2005South Asia region: report calls for law reform to end legalised violence against childrenThe second of nine regional consultations being held in connection with the UN Secretary General’s Study on Violence against Children takes place in Islambad, Pakistan from May 19 to 21 2005. The Global Initiative to End All Corporal Punishment of Children is submitting the second in a series of reports developed for the consultations. The report calls on all states in the region to explicitly prohibit all corporal punishment, linking law reform with awareness-raising on children’s right to protection.
