Hungary joins abolitionist states

In December, the Hungarian Parliament accepted an amendment to the Child Rights Act (No. 31/1997) which asserts the child's right to respect for his/her human dignity and that children may not be subjected to corporal punishment or any other inhuman, cruel or degrading treatment or punishment. The amendment came into force on 1 January 2005.
