This special progress report was prepared for a high-level conference hosted by Sweden’s Ministry of Health and Social Affairs in Stockholm, June 2014. The conference celebrated the anniversaries of two significant milestones for children - the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the CRC and the 35th anniversary of Sweden’s pioneering ban on all corporal punishment of children. The report outlines the obligation under human rights law to prohibit all corporal punishment, and looks at how UN and regional human rights mechanisms are addressing states' obligation to prohibit.
