The ‘Flames’ youth group is housed by Save the Children Australia. There are about 40 young people in Flames – many of them are now over 18. There is also a youth group for younger children (aged 11 and up), called ‘baby Flames’.

On the Save the Children Day of Action 2008, Flames ran a school campaign against corporal punishment and had an article published in a newspaper. The youth group members run training sessions about children’s rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Read all about the day here. (Opens .doc file).

In Laos, a famous saying about family discipline is "If you love your cow, tie it up, and if you love your child, hit them." For the Day of Action, the children and adults running the activities used the slogan, "If you love your cow, tie it up, and if you love your child, use positive discipline.". They had it printed on flyers, fans and T-shirts. Here is the picture they used:

If you love your cow, tie it up, and if you love your child, use positive discipline.
