Welcome to our campaign to end all corporal punishment of children.
You have the right to be protected from all violence. Nobody should hit or hurt you. And the law should say so.
Many people think that it's OK for adults to use physical violence as a way to punish or 'discipline' children. When adults hit or hurt children to punish them, it is called corporal punishment.
In lots of countries in the world, the law says that corporal punishment is OK in some places (for example, children's homes, schools, prisons and other places where children live). This means that children have less protection from violence than adults.
We think this is wrong. It's wrong to hit or hurt children and the law should say so. All over the world, children, young people and adults are working to end corporal punishment and make sure that children are protected from all kinds of violence.
This website will tell you more about what they are doing.
For adults: The Global Initiative's Guide to children's participation in actions against corporal punishment goes with this website and is designed to help adults who work with children on corporal punishment, or who would like to start.
